Yes, all the staff (save for the cooks) are to a greatest or lesser degree, either visually or hearing impaired. At the conclusion of the meal, Anton took a seat at our table and we had an opportunity to ask him questions. The entire dinner was no more than an hour and a half at best-a perfect amount of time to experience this unique environment without it being too drawn out. However, seeking out a superb culinary experience is not the reason to come here. As an aside, the quality of the food is very good, if not great. My husband had the easiest time in this regard as he had ordered pasta hence, everything on his plate was the same. Some members of our party indicated a need to 'feel' the food by touch in order to orient oneself to the plate with regards to placement of fish/rice/veggies. Obviously it was disorienting to not actually be able to see the food, but the actual process of aiming fork to mouth was surprisingly accurate. Once the food arrived, eating proved to be not particularly difficult. We managed by feel to pour the remainder of the bottle over the course of the dinner, but of course we cannot attest to a fair distribution.:) Anton poured for us, then left the bottle on the table. I did manage to dip my finger into the butter but, who knew? :) Anton 'showed' us where everything was on the table and using our sense of touch, we were able to quickly get a sense of objects on the table-plate, napkin, cutlery, water, bread, butter. If we needed anything, we were to simply call out his name. You will see nothing, although my husband claimed to see his hand as a 'shadow.' This is not the kind of dark where your eyes get accustomed to the dark and adjust. We were instructed one by one to feel our chairs and to be seated. We were instructed to enter the restaurant 'caterpillar style', in single file, each of us holding the shoulders of the person in the front, with the waiter in the lead. For obvious reasons I have no photos to share. Photos with flash (or otherwise) are not permitted. Lockers are provided for purses and so forth staff prefer that nothing be taken into the restaurant as you do not need any items while dining. The staff are superb at explaining everything and answering all questions prior to actually entering the blackout space. dinner choices will be made prior to entering the restaurant. To fellow initiates of this novel and enlightening evening, this. For my husband and myself, it was our first such experience.

The concept of a 'dinner-in-the-dark' is certainly not unique to Tel Aviv-a quick google search indicates 'dozens' of such black-out restaurants around the world.
